Itineraries
- Day 1: Hanoi – Halong
-
8:00am: Optional Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi center, transfer to Halong Bay.
12:00 The boat sets sail to cruise into the Bay. Find yourself getting acquainted with the facilities onboard. A delectable buffet lunch with a feast of choices is served in the restaurant. Savour your first hours in Halong Bay on the sun deck by simply let your eyes wander around the scenery.
We arrive at the area of Cua Van floating fishing village. From here we start to explore a cave, named Tien Ong, and the floating fishing village. Tien Ong is the most recently explored cave. It shows evidences of human civilization dating back to 10,000 – 8,000 BC. The cave is just 5 meters above sea level, 50 meters deep and covers 1000 square meters. Our guide takes you on a loop though the cave and explains about the historical findings and the cave’s particularities.
The voyage continues to the fishing village. With a small bamboo boat rowed by the local people we move around in the calm sea of this secluded area and gain an insight into the village life.
After returning to the boat we sail to the overnight mooring area Luom Bo. During this time Halong Bay reveals its most magnificent beauty - we call it the “blue hour”. Rewind on the sun deck with a drink of your choice and let the moment sink in. During the sailing time our Chef demonstrates as well the preparation of particular Vietnamese dishes. Feel free to join and practice by yourself.
Dinner is served in the restaurant either à la carte or buffet style. Afterwards the night is yours to kick-back and abundantly enjoy these unique moment amidst a surreal landscape. A presentation in our dining area with more interesting facts and insights on Halong Bay is also offered after dinner. We wish you a good night in Halong Bay where once upon a time Dragons played with sparkling jewels.Meals: L, D

- Day 2: Halong Cruise
-
Wake up at dawn to the lapping of the wave and the smell of freshly brewed coffee which is available with pastries in the dining room. Join the Tai Chi morning class on the sun deck which is a truly one-time experience. By following the moves of our instructor you merge with the surrounding scenery.
By the tender boat we transfer to our day boat named “Sunset”. It is a smaller, cozy vessel via which we discover the further hidden charms of Halong Bay. Breakfast is served as Sunset sails for the Surprise Cave, in Vietnamese “Sung Sot”. Sung Sot is the biggest cave in Halong Bay at over 10,000 square meters. It is a magnificent site with the most beautiful stalagmites and stalactites. The further you go inside the bigger it gets. We explore this natural sensation for about 60 minutes.
Once back on the Sunset take some time to relax. Lean back on your sunbed while Sunset smoothly sails further into the Bay. Here you have the chance to have another close encounter with the fairylike Halong Bay. Via kayak you can float through this bizarre water landscape. The cliffs stretch vertically out of the water and you feel a sense of freedom meandering through this green medley of water and tree-topped islets. Back on board lunch is served in the restaurant.
Back on board lunch is served in the restaurant. Sunset continues the journey to a floating pearl farm. Halong Bay is also a place where pearls are cultivated. In a small factory we learn how pearls are harvested and processed. After the visit we leisurely sail back to the mother ship. Back “home” you have time for spa or sunbathing while we sail to the overnight night spot.
The dinner is served in the restaurant around seven o’clock. Before you retire to your cabin you might like to have some fun with squid fishing together with our crew or simply lean back on one of the loungers and listen to serenity of Halong Bay.Meals: B, L, D

For early risers (~6.30 o’clock) tea, coffee and pastries are available at the restaurant area. A Tai Chi class is offered on the sundeck again to ease mind and muscles.
The boat continues to sail to Titop Island. We set over by tender to this little landmass in the bay. Prepare yourself for a refreshing morning swim on a sandy beach beneath high rock formations. If you prefer to be more active climb up to the hill top of Titop Island from where you have stunning views over Halong Bay (it is 400 stone steps up which takes about 20 minutes to the top, minimal fitness and proper footwear is required). There is also a viewing platform about half-way up with great panoramic views.
Back on board (around 8:45 o’clock) you may like to shower and freshen up. Now it is time to enjoy the last sailing time back to the harbor. A full breakfast is served in the dining room. Relax on the sun deck or dine in the restaurant while savoring the last cruise moments of this iconic site before arriving back on shore at around 11:00am. The crew will bid you farewell and you disembark with our tender boat to Tuan Chau Marina.

2 nights on the Violet boat part of the Luxury boat group. A great boat with a perfect upper deck to see the sites from (covered and uncovered parts) and only 6 cabins. Wonderful staff, amazing food and nice cabins. I would recommend two nights + not one so you can see more of the bay and enjoy the sunrises and sunsets .... Perfect trip... would change nothing.

Truly special part of our adventure. We were driven to Halong Bay by the private driver we had in Halong whose smiling face greeted us as we came off the luxury junk 3 days later. Xam (Sam manager of the boat)greeted us with a smile and his polite professional manner all trip was a delight. We were blessed to be checked into the Phoenix suite. The views of the bay from the balcony and windows were jaw dropping. The food was delicious. Silver service. As we stayed 2 nights we benefited from the fun of the cooking lessons both nights. Also found the Tai Chi a peaceful experience at 7am. On top of the boat surrounded by the bay. For all the talk I’ve seen of how crowded Halong Bay is we found peace and relaxation on board the Violet. The service on the day boat was top notch also. Loved the tours of the caves. First day with Xam and second day with ‘Bobby’. Third day Xam travelled over to Ti Top island with us where we walked up the 400 steps to take in the view. The weather wasn’t as kind as we are normally blessed with and the staff went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed the best of times. On the Violet the staff were mindful of making it a great experience yet regarded the guests privacy as highly important too. The Phoenix suite was fitted out beautifully and we were very comfortable on board. Nice touch was the Manager of the company waiting as we disembarked to ask how our trip was. Greeted my husband by name as I’d dashed off to the loo before the return trip to Hanoi. I will treasure this experience of Halong Bay as one that we will never be able to replicate.

A truely memorable trip around Halong Bay with Sammie and the crew of Violet Junk. We had a lovely room at sea level with a little balcony at the bow by the captain. The weather was kind to us and we were lucky enough to share the boat with just 2 other couples. We were 3 different nationalities and a variety ages, this added to the fun of our 3 days on the Violet. The day side trips to the caves and river people were extremely worth while. Cameras and walking shoes are advisable as there is a 400 step mountain to climb and uneven stones when walking around the caves. On the last day canoes were provided and a beach swim after the mountain climb. The food was great and good variety. We travelled when it was starting to get uncomfortably hot but the up side was there were less tourists on the whole South East Asian trip, a real "6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other"situation. Having travelled Europe in the tourist season last year, I think the hotter weather far preferable.
