Overview
Tam Giang Lagoon is known as the largest brackish water lagoon in Southeast Asia. This place owns the wild and peaceful beauty that makes anyone come here overwhelmed.
About 12 km from Hue city, Tam Giang lagoon is located in four districts of Phong Dien, Quang Dien, Huong Tra and Phu Vang in Thua Thien - Hue province. The floating market is one of the outstanding characteristics of this largest lagoon area. Floating markets usually open from 4 am and close when dawn comes, usually around 6-7 pm. Not as crowded and diverse as the floating markets in the Southwest region, the floating market here mainly buys and sells aquatic products of the lagoon.
People here live mainly on fishing. Traders on floating markets are fishermen living in fishing villages like Thai Duong Ha and Ngu My Thanh. The floating market in Ngu My Thanh village has existed for several hundred years.
The most exciting activity for tourists when traveling to Tam Giang Lagoon is watching the sunset when the scenery becomes more romantic and charismatic.
