Phat Diem Cathedral was rated by the press as one of the most beautiful churches in Vietnam, which is considered the "Catholic capital" of Vietnam. This is a great building, the great cathedral of Phat Diem diocese in northern Vietnam. The church was built entirely of stone and wood. Phat Diem church was started in 1875 and by 1898 it was basically completed. The unique feature of this project is that although it is a Catholic church, it is modeled on the traditional architectural features of Vietnamese temples.
